Top 10 of the Best New Upcoming Horror Movies of 2014

Here's a list of the top 10 upcoming horror movies of 2014. Check it out!

10. Unidentified

Video blogger (or is that vlogger?) tags along with his friends on a trip to Las Vegas. On the way, they encounter something hostile that is literally Out of This World.

The premise of "Beneath" is a bit trite, an old miner on his last day on the job, takes his daughter on her first day on the job, down into the coal mines to show her the ropes. There's a cave in, and something infects the miners, with terrifying results.

8. The Ganzfeld Haunting

"The Ganzfeld Haunting" is a found footage film of a psychology experiment testing ESP that goes terribly wrong.

7. The Returned

"The Returned" is a different take on the zombie genre that asks two very important questions:

What if there was a treatment for the zombie plague that reverted people back to being living human beings again?

What if that treatment was a serum that had to be injected every day, and then one day, protesters cut off the supply of the drug, and the people with the zombie virus in their system could no longer repress it and they become the hungry undead?

6. [REC] 4

The latest installment in the [REC] franchise pits Angela (the surviving TV reporter from the first two movies) against angry demonic zombies, on a boat.

5. Asmodexia

This Spanish horror film follows the live of an Exorcist and his granddaughter for five days. Looks like they're going to be pretty busy expelling all those demons...

4. Jessabelle

"Jessabelle" is a Southern horror film, complete with the Louisiana bayou and Voodoo practitioners. Looks like a good old haunting to me.

3. In Fear

A couple drives into the woods. The woods won't let them out.

2. Annabelle

"Annabelle" is a spin-off movie from "The Conjuring." It explores the background story of the titular creepy doll and how it became a vessel of pure unadulterated evil.

1. Babadook

"Babadook" is an Australian horror film featuring a terrifying monster, that may or may not be the product of the main character's imagination. This movie has gotten rave reviews, and many people say that it's the scariest thing they've seen in a very long time. Personally, I can't wait to see it!

  1. I'm really looking forward to some of these! Jessabelle, Annabelle, In Fear and especially The Babadook look very interesting.

  2. Brandie McnemarMonday, July 21, 2014

I love to watch these and get that creepy feeling. Although the ones that really scare me are the ones that are more likely to happen. Outbreaks, "Zombies" that sort of thing. I have been watching a list of movies that I found in Victoria Sutton's The Things That Keep Us Up At Night. Its a great book on what movies have shown us that are more likely to really happen. is her site. There are some really interesting things that she talks about and it is really scary to think about.

  3. I will have to go over and check out her website!
