'Dead Island: Riptide' Update
"Dead Island: Riptide" was first hinted at during E3. Many people, myself included, thought that it was a direct sequel to "Dead Island."
Well, I was mistaken. "Dead Island: Riptide" is not "Dead Island 2." However, it does take place in the same world as "Dead Island" and will serve to expand upon the game setting.
Currently there are Internet rumors that "Dead Island: Riptide" may be a mobile game, but thus far, all information points to it being made for a console gaming platform such as XBOX360.
According to Bloody Disgusting, Techland filed a trademark for "Dead Stop" which is an online game app for mobile phones and "other electronic apparatus." So "Dead Stop" may be an app to enhance game play of "Dead Island: Rip Tide" or it may be a stand alone game. If this information is correct, it confirms that "Dead Island: Rip Tide" isn't a mobile app, but a console game.
"Dead Island: Rip Tide" is currently priced at $49.99. According to a tweet by Aubrey Norris, the $50 price tag is solely due to the end of a console generation, meaning that game developers are anticipating the next gen of XBOX to come out soon. However, Joystiq.com has stated that it will available for both PS3, XBOX360 and PC, so that's pretty much up in the air right now.
A trailer for "Dead Island: Riptide" has been promised to be released sometime this summer, so when it comes up, I'll be sure to post it.
