Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City

"Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City" takes place in Raccoon City (hence the title), during the events of "Resident Evil 2," "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis" and two of the "Resident Evil: Outbreak" games.

An outbreak of the T-virus has spread throughout the city, turning people into zombies, or worse...

In the game you can play as an officer of the Umbrella Security Service (USS) or as a member of the United States Special Ops force. Umbrella agents must destroy evidence of Umbrella's illegal activities, which includes killing survivors. Special Ops have to expose the illegal actions of the company, and manage to stay alive during the process. Unfortunately for Leon fans, such as myself, the game gives you the option of killing Leon Kennedy (which, really, makes no sense. But it is just a "what-if" scenario and not cannon to the series. So, whatever.)

There is a single player and an online multiplayer mode, where you can play the as the new operatives from the game or the classic heroes and villains from "Resident Evil 2" and "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis" including
  • Leon S. Kennedy
  • Claire Redfield
  • Carlos Oliveira
  • Jill Valentine
  • Ada Wong
  • HUNK
  • Nicholai Ginovaef
  • Lone Wolf (new character)

The zombie game play is similar to Resident Evil 2 and 3- where a zombie will grapple with you, and you much rapidly move the analogue stick to avoid being infected (i.e. bitten or scratched). When you are infected, you are invisible to nearby zombies until you turn, then your character attacks your team-mates, and will continue to do so until you are shot. Then your character respawns.

Game mechanics also include a bleed-out factor, when you are severely wounded, you will bleed out and your screen will turn red in color, signifying that your blood is attracting zombies and other BOWs. Speaking of BOWs, in addition to fighting zombies, there will be Hunters, Lickers and Tyrants, including Mr. X and Nemesis.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be in stores March 20, 2012.

In the trailers below, you will get a good look at new characters, Mr. X, and get to see the awesome re-design of the Lickers. They really look like their bodies have no skin- bloody raw, exposed muscle and glistening brains and everything.
