Free Movie Friday! 80's Cult Classic Puppet Master

This 1989 horror cult classic started the Puppet Master franchise. The stop-motion animation segments of the animated puppets in "Puppet Master" was done by the late David W. Allen. His work included the  Bloodlust: Subspecies II, Dollman vs. Demonic Toys, Bride of Re-Animator, Ghoulies II, Willow, *Batteries Not Included, The Howling, and the hallucination sequence in Young Sherlock Holmes. His production company  released Puppet Master series and the Demonic Toys series, amongst others.

Andre Toulon is a puppeteer who has mastered the alchemical secrets of animation. He made four living puppets; multi-paneled faced Jester who changes facial expression, fedora wearing knife wielding Blade, strongman Pinhead, drill headed Tunneler, and leech vomiting Leech Woman or Miss Leech, as the trailer calls her. (Leech Woman apparently is her fan name.) While they don't sound all that impressive, these little terrors are serial killers. After the death of their master at the hands of Nazi scientists, they are filled with rage.

"Present day" 1989, three psychics are contacted by Neil Gallagher and head to Bodega Bay Inn to meet him. When they get there, they are met with the news that Neil killed himself.

Soon after, the puppets come out and begin to kill the guests, one by one. It appears that Neil Gallagher has used their master's alchemical formula to fake his death and give himself eternal life, which has sent the puppets on a frenzied killing spree as they search out the man who stole their creator's secrets.
